Yes, that is called "determinism" which is a sub-set of "materialism", and that you can never know or understand the reason, is called "Chaos theory", while that you can get closer to the reason without ever getting all the way to it, is called "quantum theory".
Nice to meet you, with all the religious people about, it is rare to meet someone who understands the theoretical basis of atheist scientific thought.
