Yes, not knowing the term "ghosted" when I was a girl, when I look back at my childhood, that's exactly how I felt when I was told by the nuns in catechism that I had a guardian angel watching out for me and keeping me out of harm's way, but I sure wondered where that guardian angel was as I found myself in unfair situations. Very puzzling for a young person being told to trust what the nuns were teaching, but it just didn't jive with what was happening at home.

Took a long while to crawl out of that myth to realize I had to be my own advocate for fair treatment. Still a difficult journey in a world where the pious are seen as always being right, and the doubter is always seen as the evil one deserving to be punished. There is light at the end of the tunnel - just have to trust in ourselves as humans to fix the problems created by religion.
