Getting some Spring walking is my new daily mission. Do you walk? How much? How often?
I used to do so constantly, but this town where I live now has mediocre public transportation.

I love to walk, and with summer coming on ..a lot of it will be behind my ‘self-propelled’ mower 🙂 Otherwise, yes … I’ve around a two mile route to the nearest bridge, where I can either look over or get down to the edge of a decent stream. On the other side, the pavement ends … so I’ll only go further during winter or after a rain, as not to get dusted.

When nearby fields have been cut for baled grass, or all winter.. with roaming neighbor dogs tagging along, I’ll walk their parameters.. Coyote signs everywhere, wild turkey, deer, and a beaver working that section of stream. The dogs love it, as their owners rarely leave their decks..

I’ll often take along optics, an amiter birder in a ‘new place,’ it remains amazing. Locals wave at everyone, but (thankfully) rarely stop … except the ol’ retired dairy guys, apparently more bored than me 🙂

I’d read water meters in my younger years, where, if I paced myself, I could walk all day.. Around here, SW VA, I’m kinda tick paranoid … so limit my ‘off roading.’ But this winter I found around 300 acres of local hardwood forest, and with light snow or cold sunshine, have made numerous forays … bear activity and all! I ‘make’ walking sticks, have around 400.

Near the Blue Ridge Parkway, not far from the Appalachian Trail … if I care to meet people, the trails are endless and the views spectacular 😀

Did almost 8 miles today. Try to do at least 5 a day.
