I read this in my news feed today:

Florida Teachers Are Emptying Out Their Libraries to Avoid Felony Charges: Teachers and parents have been sharing photos and videos that show rows and rows of empty or covered-up bookshelves in the wake of a dystopian directive.

Teachers in Florida’s Manatee and Duval counties have reportedly been scrambling to empty their classroom libraries of all of their contents. The reason? If they don’t, they could possibly be charged with a felony.

This was published by The Guardian, and has been covered by othe national news organizations.

Just a few days ago I was thinking that DeSantis will likely run for president in 2024 and get the Republican nomination (instead of Trump) and he might could win against Biden. DeSantis could very well be even worse for the U.S. than Trump because DeSantis actually seems to be capable of getting things done. He'd turn all of the U.S. into Florida. DeSantis would be way scarier than even Trump.

Yes, many of my friend agree that DeSantis is more clever that Trump, and he could likely do a lot more damage in the White House.

Who threatened them with felony charges?
The bill was passed last July, why the furor now?
Are there teams of compliance investigators
combing through the stacks in school libraries?

This fucking asshole is bound and determined to destroy public education. I don't understand why teachers and administrators are not fighting him!

Fight with what? They are teachers that are under attack from an army of elected and volunteer psychos that can make the rules up as they go. Teachers are not geared to constantly being on the attack, but their enemies are.

@alliwant They could band together and file lawsuits against him and keep him tied up in court. 😉
