“A Little Bit of Logic”
Who is Donald Trump? Donald Trump is a salesman, and an entrepreneur. He is not a statesman or a politician. He knows nothing about government , but he does know how to sell.
What is a salesman? A salesman is a person who lies for a living; one whose job it is to make a maximum of profit at another’s expense. In his current position, the commodity he is selling is himself.
Entrepreneur means literally “Putting between”. In his current position, Trump is putting his own personal interests between you and your expectations of an equitable symbiosis between government and society.
What is society? Society and Socialism, of course come from the same root. Society means, quite simply, “the state of living in organized groups”
Why, then, do so many people admire Trump and seem to fear the prospect of living in organized groups and achieving the benefits of living in an equitable society?
One possible reason may be that one of the most prevalent occupations of the American worker is that of marketing, or sales, and it has been said that there is no one to whom it is easier to sell, than a salesman.
What do YOU think?

Elections in most western democratic countries are largely popularity contests, seldom are they decided on the basis of the issues for there is little or no accountability of elected officials. Politicians are not subject to annual or end of term appraisals. It would seem that it does not matter which party is elected to govern because the representation of vested interests, the banks and the rich, ensures that the vast majority of the electorate get shafted.

For those who are unable to differentiate between what they want and what they need salesmen will be there to offer their services. In a consumer society the promise of happiness is projected onto the acquisition of material goods, however, any perceived or imagined happiness is usually very transient and then it is time to get back on the guinea pig wheel again which not unlike to the proverbial donkey chasing a carrot suspended on a stick tied to it’s halter.

If that is true and inevitable, and I'm not saying it isn't, why did we have Obama for two terms?

@fishline79 The banks and the rich still run the show regardless of who is elected to govern a country. If the rich are not happy with government policies they move their money.

If you buy into the culture, you are likely to buy its products. That is almost certainly true, both literally and metaphorically.

I think Trump must be a good manager of people, to do things for him, considering his relatively high profile, successful life. Advantageous in business, but also true for government leadership. People management.
Society is a very general term. All societies or cultures consist of a bag of subcultures. He appeals to certain groups within society, not society as a group.
Being psycho, he can be very charismatic in the moment. f I was an American I would not be too worried about Trump getting back in. A one trick pony imo, but you never know as people may fall for the same con twice.
He got in because

  1. People wanted change. HRC does not represent change. A pity Sanders never got his chance as he also represented change.
  2. He talked a good talk, but like most politicians forgot when elected eg "Drain the swamp" ie fight entrenched corruption in Washington was popular but once in, surrounded himself with Washington professionals.
  3. Hillary really was an appalling choice for candidate and was way overconfident. I think people sensed that and it put them off her.

First of all, Hillary won the popular vote by 3,000,000 votes. The election was rigged, but not by Democrats! Secondly, the uneducated rabble, mostly from the "Jim Crow" South were incenced because we had two terms of one of the best human beings in the nation's history, and he was "BLACK", and more educated and intelligent than any of them!

@fishline79 Presidential elections are not won by the popular vote in the USA, never have and I doubt they ever will. Presidential elections are won by the college vote. American style democracy, their rules. Exceptional rules for an exceptional country 😉

"The election was rigged, but not by Democrats!". I strongly disagree and I will explain why.
The DNC rigged their primaries in favour of the Hillary Clinton campaign, the establishment candidate. Admitted in court, undeniable. Now if they picked the popular candidate, which was Bernie Sanders, it would have been an interesting election because the people were screaming for change and both Trump and Saunders represented change. HRC represented "same old same old". I think Sanders would have beaten Trump, therefore conclude the world can thank the DNC for Trump because they rigged their presidential candidate primaries (a bitter pill democrats seem unable to swallow; The DNC gave the world POTUS Trump). Same DNC rigging done for Biden which is turning out fine and dandy being the unifying president as promised (cough cough). The Democratic Party is far from democratic in electing their leadership.

So why were people screaming for change? Because Obama's presidency was a failure; So full of promise but in the end, full of shite. He trained and armed declared enemies of the USA in al Nusra, to fight Syria (where the USA is currently stealing their hydrocarbons). He was the drone king, massively increasing their use. He was instrumental in events in Ukraine during his time and do not dare forget Libya. Hillary was a continuation of this status quo which is partly why she was rejected, American democracy style. I too looked forward to Obama's presidency, but he was a great disappointment. I'm sure Obama is a class act human being, but that does not make great leaders or managers.
