Did you know there are actually four North Poles?
And I'm assuming a corresponding number from the Southside. There is a link at the bottom of my post from Scientific American that explains this surprising fact.
"You may think of the North Pole only as the top of the world—its northernmost point and, if you're younger, Santa's home. But it turns out there are a host of "north (and south) poles" on our planet."

Yes it's due to the earth being tilted on an axis there is a geographical north/south, and polar North/south poles. The polar poles shift pending on what the magnetic field around the earth is doing. Your compass will point to the closest polar strength. There is a place on Mexico called the zone of silence you should check it out if you have not already heard of it, very strange place when it comes to electromagnetic energy. I would love to go and run a few tests of my own some day.
