May1- Tag der Arbeit. We dance around the May pole, happy to have work; the workers. not the managers. When I came to America I was surprised not to see or hear any celebrations. I quickly learned that most Americans do not celebrate work, especially the work that can make your hands dirty or grow muscles on your body. Everybody wants to be a boss or a manager. Unions are not valued. Work that could leave oil or dirt on your hands are not valued.
If another person here asks me what the secret to German success is, I will scream. It is attitude, dear American friend.
My father taught me that all work is honorable and deserves to be done to the best of your ability.
Happy May Day, American workers and Union!

But on the average, Americans nowadays work much more than Germans or French !
