Empathy is energy.

Empaths know this all too well. First let me define energy in the way I use the term. I'm not speaking of the scientific or dictionary definition of energy. I'm talking about the general concept. I define energy in this way to mean a force not defined and explained scientifically.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a lover of science. I read science news sites daily because science stimulates me and I get a lot of positive energy from it. We have to accept that science knows what it knows and knows nothing beyond that. That's not to say science isn't aware of it, it's just to say science doesn't put much effort into expanding into areas they can't already measure or define scientifically. Empaths know this energy, accept it, and learn to live with it. It's kind of like accepting “the force” into your life and embracing it, for you Sci Fi lovers out there.

If science doesn't understand something we aren't to just ignore it. We can look back in time to ancient Greece for wisdom, ancient China, ancient India, ancient Americas, ancient Africa, etc. We can see the study that was done into that which is unknown. We can see parallels between cultures. Humanity has already laid the groundwork.

For the average person my advice is simple. Understand you have empathy. Understand using it is like physical exertion. It burns calories, and can wear and tear on not only your emotional but your physical, mental, and spiritual health. To what extent is up to you. Empathy is on a scale, empaths are high on the scale and most aren't at one extreme or the other but in between. Discover where you are by discovering how much empathy affects your daily life.

Introverts tend to be high in empathy. They need their alone time to recharge. Why? Because they're drained of energy. If you've ever felt drained of energy. There's a reason why. Rest, recharge and if you want more control over your energy then research it. It's just like anything else, the more you know.

I only recently realised that I’m an empath. I now realise how much that’s impacted my life. Presumably you share the characteristics too?

@FvckY0u Good stuff. Mind if I message you about the topic? I’m not sure if the messaging is working on this site at the moment.

@FvckY0u Thanks, I’ll see if a message gets through.

ohferpetessake, going down the Woo rabbit hole, are ya?

@FvckY0u Horsefeathers! one can find oneself in a totally unexpected and untenable position. it is how you get yourself out, or turn things around, that shows character and causes self-improvement too.

@FvckY0u Hey, i'm channeling my grandfather here.......

@AnneWimsey Out of interest, in what context was the word “horse feathers” used by your grandfather? Must be an American term. Kind of like “I don’t believe you?”

My Mum says “Hold onto your holly hocks”. It means don’t be too eager.

@Zealandia He and my Grandma used it in front of the 4 grandchildren instead of other words farmers are well-acquainted with.......

@AnneWimsey Hahaha, only in front of the grand children…..that’s a good substitute. Presumably adults would be subject to the alternatives. And the kids occasionally overheard.

@Zealandia it's only in the last 10 years that my hearing has declined, lol!

@Zealandia, FvckYou.....A much nicer way of saying 'yer fulla shit'....a horse is many things, and a very important member of society back then, but they don't have feathers....

@AnneWimsey Yes, horses were so important and we forget about that, having known cars all our lives.

Horses are still used for personal transportation in some rural communities here.

I have seen a photo of someone using a horse at a McDonald’s drive thru in Gisborne on the East Coast.

In the last year I've discovered my daughter is an empath and now I understand her alot better. Yes empathy is important. I can't have empathy for everyone , that just too much on a persons plate. What's more important is to have compassion for everyone, that is achievable.

Thank you. Count me an introverted empath.
