You know when you see someone when you're out, and they are frowning? Look at negative Nancy over there, frowning. Stay away from her! Did you know wearing a frown is someone's way of saying “I need encouragement”?
You see, you possess great power. You want to see it in action? You want to feel it? I'll tell you how. Find someone who is frowning. A worker at a fast food joint, perhaps. Give them a huge tip and tell them something encouraging. Tell them you want to see them smile. Someone walking down the street you see frowning. Say, “I like your jacket.” When you say, “I like your jacket,” it isn't just that you like their jacket. That's not the important part to the other person. What's important to them is that you acknowledged them. You said to them, “I see you, and I recognize you are meaningful.” That's really all you have to do. Just acknowledge them.
