As a bookworm person I’d love to put this question to y’all. Is it fair to ban certain books or artworks that may be deemed offensive or controversial?

there is no such thing as fair, or justice, or deserve etc. those are ideas which can only be approximated toward some resolution. there are real, sincere hard thought efforts to find equity amongst the percieved transgressions and rewards, but alas it all boils down to the satisfaction of the power of the offended and the heart. thus contraversy....

Not in general, though what is available in a primary/elementary school library should be different than what is in any higher education school library. Even this could be viewed as subjective.

@seitchcraft I’d completely agree with you, if it’s on the basis mentioned above or it’s based on its accuracy or relevance to the community, then, it’s understandable. But to ban a book on the basis of religious beliefs of others and to term it controversial is wrong I guess? I have read the whole of buy bull from genesis to revelation and in my opinion I feel it possess more threat to both elementary and higher educational level, yet its not ban.

The only books/media that I'd consider banning are those that are dangerous. For example, a book that teaches you how to make a pipe bomb or promotes sex trafficking or fraud or violates intellectual property.

Other than that, I'm against any censorship. I despise what is happening in libraries in Florida and other states where people are pulling books from shelves for the most trivial and usually bigoted reasons.

unfortunately how to build a bomb would be available online anyway. We are in trouble either way.
