From De Profundis (1905), a postumously published letter writtten by Wilde whilst a prisoner in Reading Gaol.
It takes the form of a recollection and an attempted reconciliation with his former lover "Bosie". Lord Alfred Bruce Douglas marquis of queensbury, who though the reason for Wilde's conviction was never even arrested or even questioned himself.
The letter was never sent nor read by Bosie, until after the publication of the Letter 5 years after the death of its author.
Not all of us have the power or ability to be original. Emulating those we admire however is the sincerest flattery.
