So I am in my minivan with 3 large dogs, crated, 2 grandkids, my Mom and her folded wheelchair, going to her doctor appointment, stopped at a stop sign and a bicyclist swerves around us from behind, not stopping at the sign, and yells into my open window, "gas guzzler!"
Asshat!!!!!

I cycled all of my young life and loved it, unfortunately I smashed my left knee in a rugby game when I was about 14. I recovered but the problem flared up again in my thirties and my doctor told me that if I did not stop cycling I would be "cripled" (his word not mine) by the time I was forty.
My favourite bike was an Elswick Hopper Sovereign a beautiful bike and a pleasure to ride, I also sometimes used my father's (1952) Claude Butler, possibly the best bike ever made.

There is a couple from Vancouver Island staying at my condo building. They have rented 2 bikes for the duration of their lengthy stay, saving hundreds of dollars in car rental charges.

We have so many places just a short bike ride away, plus we are right on the public bus line and we have all kinds of shared transportation modes, let alone carpooling with others here in the building. Makes sense for active people to get around by bicycle and on foot when in an area where everything is so close and the weather is good.

Not everyone is in a bike friendly community, but I sure am glad that I am. The bike path runs right by my driveway. Can't get much more convenient that that! 🙂

I have two bikes. An electric and an ordinary one. The electric needs a new battery. I use the other one far too infrequently. One gets very lazy, or I do.

@Jolanta I have to carry my regular bike up and down 2 flights of stairs, in order to ride it outside. I think an electric one might be heavier to carry than my current bike, so I stick to pedaling my old one. Sure is getting rusty though!
