The anatomy of an attempted honour killing in Australia: [abc.net.au] : "[The father] makes a comment to the effect that 'he should have finished her off'."

And Muslim fanatics wonder why everybody else holds them in such great contempt?

Let us know what the sentencing is.

The father stabbed his daughter in a suburban Adelaide shopping centre car park…..can’t believe that the family thought it was appropriate to commit a crime like this in a public space.

That's the problem. The family did not think, they merely reacted with their own fears, prejudices, ignorance and anger.

I will be keeping an eye on the Court's proceedings.

@anglophone Agree on the reaction, it was barbaric and inappropriate, even though some family members clearly don’t have the capacity to understand this.

I’d like to know what the sentencing decision is, thanks. If they’re citizens that’s a pity as they won’t be able to be deported under 501.

@Zealandia I am under the impression that if they were granted Australian citizenship then it may be possible to revoke it, but I would first need to check my understanding. If the victim was born in Australia then that would not apply to her.

@anglophone Let’s hope the bill passes in some form or other.

Revoking of citizenship is possible here:
“In rare circumstances, the Minister of Internal Affairs can take away your New Zealand citizenship. You will no longer be able to use a New Zealand passport and you might not be allowed to live here.”

[govt.nz]

So, one route as per government website:

“You got your New Zealand citizenship through:
committing fraud
falsely representing yourself
deliberately hiding information when you applied for citizenship
an administrative mistake.”

I like the don’t fuck with us plain English used by the NZ government at times.
