This is one of his parallels with Hitler. People who met Hitler often thought he was a clown ... or were overwhelmed by him and became unquestioningly loyal to him. Why so many humans fall for people like Hitler/Trump is a mystery science is still unraveling. Fortunately they're pretty rare in the historical record, and even more rarely rise to the heights of power. But when they do, whew boy, the sheet usually hits the fan.

In this case Trump has made it clear that he intends to let Russia invade NATO countries and will do nothing about it.

Granted some countries don't fully pay for their defense, but the cost of maintaining NATO is far cheaper than another world war., which Trump seems perfectly willing to let happen. What is scary is you never know what he is going to do. This is the guy who wanted to use a nuclear weapon to try to stop a hurricane while he was president. Disregarding how many nuclear test treaties that would violate, just the fact that he is so willing to casually and blithely use nuclear weapons should be a major concern as conflicts have heated up around the world, not just with Russia attacking countries to gain territory, but also the conflict in Israel as well as conflicts between China and Taiwan. Putting Trump in charge would be disastrous for the entire world, as he has no finesse, tact or diplomacy to handle and deescalate current conflicts.

@snytiger6 Even without the US, Nato's military budget dwarfs that of any potential adversary, and two of them are nuclear powers as well. There are literally no nations that pose a military threat to Nato. Even at the Soviet Union's height non US Nato military spending dwarfed that of the Soviet Union and its occupied territories. The Cold War has been fantastically profitable for America's arms industry, and is the reason why the US's infrastructure, health care, and education are the laughing stock of the developed world, but it didn't prevent anything because there was nothing to prevent. Nato has been aggressively expanding and waging war since the Soviet Union collapsed, so it's Nato's neighbors that are threatened, not Nato. That's what the Russo-Ukraine War is about, Russia made it clear that Ukraine joining Nato and allowing Nato first strike weapons next to Russia's heartland was a red line. What do you think the US would do if Russia overthrew Canada's government, installed a virulently anti-American government, which started shelling across the border and threatening to ally with Russia and allow Russian missile launchers to be based in Ontario? Yes, Trump is a whack job who says stupid things, but it's Biden that is going full speed ahead on war around the world. Far more so than Trump did when he had the chance.
