I feel that religions are a search for Truth too. Buddha, Christ and Mohamed were pre-freethinkers, looking for new lights. We should not overblame them, neither build shit over their meditations.

Religions are not about truth, other than that they repress the search for truth, in favour of revelation, holy scrip and submission to "faith"
People who run religion are not concerned with truth or even the teachings of their founders they are corporations concerned only with power, self aggrandisement and material wealth.
Siddhartha Gautama was a proto hippy, Christ did not exist and Mohamed was a simple camel herder exploited by warlord relatives.
In their teachings what was good was not original to them and what was original was not good.
