I can't help but chuckle when I hear someone proudly label themselves as a 'freethinker.' While the term suggests someone who independently forms their beliefs, unencumbered by traditional authority or dogma, it's often misconstrued. Many interpret 'freethinker' as merely rejecting others' thoughts, missing the nuance of genuine independent thinking. True freethinking goes beyond mere rejection; it entails active engagement in critical inquiry, open-mindedness, and the cultivation of personal beliefs based on evidence, reason, and introspection. Rejecting established beliefs doesn't inherently equate to independent thought; it's the ability to critically assess and form one's own beliefs that defines genuine freethinking.

Yes, but a true freethinker does not chuckle. Because a true freethinker can see, that without the experience of free thought, it is impossible to understand it, and therefore not possible to conceive why you are not doing it. When the true freethinker sees that, they weep inwardly.

We are what we alone define ourselves of what to be and who we are.

A lot of people say selfishness is bad, and I will agree with that to a very large extent. But you have no other choice but to be just that just to keep being who you are as an individual, to be yourself. Are the ones passing judgement on you paying your bills? Your car insurance, food bills, etc etc.?? If not shove your judgement where the sun doesn’t shine.

reading judgement and writing judgement are two different things. The post is not a judgement but simply an observation. You have to take things beyond where I took them to come to a judgement.

As for selfishness, I'm all for it. I see it as mostly a good thing so long as one is actually putting forth the effort to be in oneself.

@Drank_Spear free thinking or critical think I say are the same side of the coin just because the government think we should all get vaccinated do any one think to investigate it.did you come to a conclusion? Did you do it because your doctor said it was safe and effective because you think your doctor is smarter than you or studied better or more than you. I don't alway agree with my doctors some doctor drop you as patient because you question there thinking from thing you have studied yourself. So doctors will accept yor judgement....

Doesn't the first part of that last sentence lead to the rest of it?

I don't think so. I'd suggest it's dangerous for one to assume dismissal of others thoughts as an invitation of new individual thoughts. Certainly it creates space but space for what? Different for everyone.
