I couldn't watch s Of Egypt because: 1. It's laughable to try to interpret from hieroglyphs what the Egyptians were trying to say about their s and 2. All of the people in the movie were which is laughably historically inaccurate. The people of ancient Egypt were as was shown in all of their art. Religion period has always been used to control the masses with fear. That's why many have been slaughtered in the name of various s.

It really is painful to see fellow humans doing this to each other over things that they believe. There's physical torture, which is easy to see, but mental "torture" is very widespread and accepted as kinda okay. It takes people decades to get themselves out from the guilt, fear, low self worth, emotional mail, harsh restrictions, confusion, etc. It takes a surprising amount of effort to start focusing on life rather than the afterlife, once you're out of religion. It can wreck a lot of one's life, shaping their thoughts and behaviour.

Yeah I get so angry when I hear christians talk about how they are persecuted. Its like no your not! They have no clue about how many people have died in the name of their god.

Even without religion people will still find reasons to kill other people. It could be race, nationallity, political differences, and the list goes on, and on, and on......

There’s a great play called God On Trial. It’s about Jews in a concentration camp trying to determine if God has forsaken them. At the end when they are about to determine the verdict, one of the characters launches into a diatribe about how God was never good. You can find clips of it on YouTube. Worth a watch.

Just to make you feel better there is no historical or archeological evidence of Exodus..

Many atheists have wreaked havoc and committed genocide as well. The believers are not in an exclusive club. Millions of people have been saved by the religious and their efforts. The greatest monuments in the world and the most precious art has been inspired by belief in gods. I believe there is no more powerful force in the world than a population who has a communal dogma. It defies all logical reason yet the force is unstoppable. Group psychology or group belief is the most powerful thing in the world. It even propels science. But, you're correct, because "our gods" are always the right gods and others gods are the wrong gods, then, generally speaking, the others can be enslaved at best and slaughtered at worst. It has cost billions of lives and we still have religious wars today.

Yeah, far too many atrocities committed in the name of religion. It's pretty ridiculous that most people refuse to see that their religion was built on bloodshed.

Hopefully one day all of that will change...
