TROLLS
This whole 'online community' thing is new to me and I don't have a lot of experience with social media so could you all explain what a troll is and does? I've had some disagreements with misogynist/rape deniers and racist/xenophobes but after telling them off and ignoring their responses they left me alone. I assume being trolled is much worse than that. Is it also more common for a woman to be trolled? This has been a very hot topic here recently and I'd like to get a better understanding of this mess.

On Facebook , I can easily block , those idiots , and will never see anything from them , ever again . It works very well . I read that there is a method of doing that here as well , although I don't think I've done that here ,yet .

Trolls are people who try to deliberately provoke others, usually by posting abusive, annoying or otherwise inflammatory stuff to try to provoke other users, but in most cases are doing it purely to provoke rather than actually believing what they're posting (as opposed to misogynists, rape deniers, xenophobes, racists etc. who are just assholes), which is why they often shut up and go away if you ignore them. It's experienced by men and women, but I do think women are targeted more often - some men, unfortunately, do seem to get a kick out of trying to offend or upset women.
