If Trump wins and Project 2025 becomes the guidance, how many people might flee to Canada or will Trump prevent them? In 4 years afterwards, what would be the likelihood of a new election?
As someone who lives here in the U.S., and Texas to boot, that is a scary thought. I've done my early voting, and hope it helps push Harris into the presidency. Speaking of migrating I'm closer to Mexico than Canada, so l hope there's still a hole in the fence I can squeeze through.
As far as I know at least 7/8ths of the fence has not been done yet.
@rogerbenham I do have an uncle who lives in Mexico, so that's a connection I can make if need be.
@RhondaShotwell I can only hope that he is prevented from carrying out his violest statements but now the suprime court have given him immunity .... indeed he coud lock Garris up and many others as "enemies or the state"/
@rogerbenham Let's hope that the majority of us over here are too smart to let that happen.
@RhondaShotwell The problem clearly is that a vast number are not very smart. How many Trumpies tell you that he is a great business man? We he manages to suppress all whom he cheats and bankcruptcies are ?smart?
@rogerbenham Clearly there are some that are not smart, but I think, at least I've heard it said many times, is that they just don't care what he says, or does, as long as he represents what they care about most. They may not like everything he says, but they like the fact that he seems to them to be telling it as it is, that he speaks his mind. The problem with that is that they choose to ignore the really troubling things he has said and done. Things they would never condone, and would condemn very loudly, if they were done by Democrats. They seem to think he is some brilliant business man, but don't address the fact that his casinos went bankrupt. And that's who they want running the country? I will give him credit, though, for being a smart and clever grifter, and he knows how to market himself...he knows what works to convince a large amount of people. And they will happily pay his bills, and lifestyle choices.
@RhondaShotwell The gift of the gab. He feeds them reason to be angry. He preys on unhappinedd that once they accepted. But what happens when they realisethat atually he is not remotely on their side? In a few years many of them may find that they are way worse off than before him?
He stated they would fix it so we will not have to vote again
He did indeed. Meaning he wants to President until dies.
All very good questions, at 71 Canada would not except me.
With so many in the GOP apparently willing to trash their oaths of office I am concerned there would not be elections if he were to be placed in the WH.
Odd. I know that possibly half of my friends Maleft their home country the USA around 1971.
Masses of back to the land hippies here were once from the States. In 1974 I became a hippie under guidance of an international family of hippies lead by a New Yorker.
He cannot "serve" three terms but he can extend the 2nd indefinitely.
@rogerbenham I am 71 years old, I don't Canada would except me. All those kids back in the 1970 were much younger and so was I.
@silverotter11 Probably true unless you brought a million. In 1970 the world population was less than 4 million and Canada's maybe half of what it is now and not suffering a housing shortage but after 6 months you'd get free medical probably.
Of course if you marry a Canadian ...
