Ladies i will never experience the indignity of a rape but if we are to place these creeps in prison hopefully for the rest of their lives you must report the crime.I am very sure there is a lot of emotions that go with the event but it is the criminal that should suffer as a result and not you. The world has changed and we do not blame you so help us assist u in putting these criminals behind bars.

I agree that it's the criminal that should suffer. The fact that tens of thousands of rape kits sit on police shelves and have never even been tested gives you an idea of how important women's "dignity" is to the police ... or society in general. So women will continue to hold back on reporting.

In case you've never heard before, but men can be and are raped all the time. They're even less likely than women to come forward due to the shame of it.

Wait...you consider a violent assault an "indignity"????!!!!!

Are you kidding? Let's hope you never go to prison and experience the "indignity of rape" in there.

Most of the time women who have experienced this kind of thing want to forget that it happened. I agree with you these creeps should be arrested. Some of the world still lives in the past. Alot of women are too ashamed to report this kind of crime or they are told to not say a word.

A law must be passed that all rapists must be castrated. Promise you, no more rape ?

If you look up the statistics on both convictions (DISMAL) and the even more dismal ones on time served after conviction, you might not be so smug.

Not trying to be smug rather I am very in favor of all womens rights and have worked on there marches etc. The point I was making is so many of these creeps get away with their crimes because they go un reported allowing these creeps the advantage to repeat over and over their crimes.

@Marine thank you for your thought, but the reality is, conviction rates nationwide are under 10%, time served sentencing is about 2% of that (not the total!). When i say DISMAL, i am understating it!

"Historically, sexual assault survivors have faced stigmatization and even have been blamed for the crimes committed against them. Until recently, many survivors were required to pay the full cost of the medical exams to collect evidence against the perpetrator."

In courts, schools, families and communities, women and girls are routinely blamed for being raped.

Women and girls face humiliating questions about their clothing, alcohol use, relationship history and worse. Victim-blaming is a pervasive, worldwide problem.

In America, over 40,000 rape kits are destroyed in hospitals and police stations each year. Suddenly rape victims have no case. This is why so few women and girls report being raped.

Thank you for your post...I'll forgive the 'ladies' comment. Male rape is a thing too safly, massively underreported and extremely damaging. We need to stop thinking this is about sex. It isn't. Rape is a violent crime and is about power.

Thank you please read my reply above.
