Have you ever met someone whom you thought used their power or authority in a "God Like" manner? A few years ago, I was routinely riding my bicycle in my neighborhood, when a German Shepherd starting chasing me. I was riding into a cul-de-sac, and I heard a man scream "Stop and get off the bike and he will stop chasing you!" I stopped my bicycle and the dog's owner stepped up and took the dog by his collar as I got back on my bike. The dog got loose from the man's grip and bit me on my ankle. Instead of acting concerned, he acted like the whole incident was my fault. I drove home to care for my dog bite and called animal control (and they picked the dog up) because there are laws about dogs running loose. Several weeks later, I was riding down the same street (I kept up my daily routine) when I saw the same man and his dog and this time, he was walking him on a leash. He actually threatened me that he wouldn't be responsible if I continued going down HIS street, and indicated I wasn't being smart in doing so. I countered back, that I was sorry his dog has such a lousy owner and I don't blame the dog, but I have a right to ride my bicycle any time, and anywhere I choose. This man turned out to be a Judge, and also running for office (which I knew). A couple of months later, I moved, but his neighbor told me that several people had encounters with him and his dog and they were afraid to report him, because he's a judge, but I don't fear GOD and with that, I think I sent a message that bullying doesn't work on everybody!

Another example of power corrupting the ego..this fella has an inflated sense of his own importance!

I think often animals become a reflection of their owner. I have encountered dog owners like this and it is always the other persons fault. They often say this behavior is unusual for their pet so you must have done something to provoke the animal. Unfortunately, we now have someone like trying to run the country!!

Good job, staying calm and functional after being bit. I experienced a dog-bite many years ago, and only the need to stay functional and deal with the emergency in a safe manner kept me going.

A dog can in many circumstances be a good judge of character. However a judge in some circumstances can be a bad judge of character a bad judge of dogs, and a bad judge period. You did nothing wrong here. He should not permit his dog to attack anyone if the dog was properly trained and disciplined it would not have bitten you since you were clearly no threat to the judge. I don't blame the dog in this particular event. It was the judges lack of judgment. He should have prevented the attack with a disciplined call to the dog to stand down..which a trained Alsatian or shepherd will heed. Subsequently after the fact..he should have tended to your injury or at least offered to do so..then he should have apologised sincerely. Since he did neither and added insult to injury by veiled territorial threats I can only come to one conclusion...and that is that the man is a shit.
I hope your ankle was not too badly mauled and that you are not unduly afraid of all dogs because of your unfortunate experience with an irresponsible incompetent dog owner and asshole...excuse my French.
