I think within 10 years, we will be unable to distinguish whether we are talking with an intelligent robot or human on the phone. AI has almost passed the turing test. Not sure, whether it's a good or bad news.

Elson Musk warmed us. This could be a very bad idea.

It is what it is, Evolution never stops as long as time exist. We are only a couple hundred thousand years old and have evolved much, We are destined to be cyborgs, no way around this conclusion.
We are already at the door step of the new AI/human merger. Our species has always sought eternal life not realizing we already are eternal in our energy. We will find a vehicle to encapsulate us and allow to travel in the mind. Hell we may even be the god we so seek.

Around twenty years or so ago I used to spend a lot of time chatting on IRC. There were many bots around. Some of them (depending on who programmed them) were nearly indistinguishable from actual Humans at first. I suppose there were a few people that thought I was a bit strange for chatting with bots, but it was fun & interesting for me. That & many of the people sitting in the rooms just didn't want to chat. I think AI is much further along than most of us are aware of.

Well, you don't require advanced AI to have normal chitchat, specially texting. But simulating voice and emotion based on the response definitely hard.

Very neat, like a real personal assistant.

We'll have to see what happens.

Soon there will be a robot uprising and man will fall

At some point, they'll have to be irrational on purpose in order to pretend they're human, and they'll certainly have to hide a lot of their intelligence if they're to pass the Turing test.

Not a fan. I am a firm believer in the Law of Unintended Consequences.
All this bs going to come back to bite us all square in the ass.

Unintended but not unforseeable. Those people working on AI should know better.

@SergeyCornwall Agreed!!!!

I think AI robots plan to save as from annihilating ourselves by using our method to save some animal species from extinction; they can eradicate most of us and keep the rest in zoos.

The AI are taking over the world and we are none the wiser.

It's been difficult to determine if you're texting with a bot for over a decade imo. The phone calls are impressive though. I find AI, and especially, GAI or ASI fascinating. Honestly, my curiosity of how it develops is, my reason for putting up with the rest of what's happening in these crazy times.

It is mixed news, IMO. AI will take our jobs, and do them better than we can, eventually. Things will be really cheap, because factories will have no employees. On the other hand, people will not have jobs, and will not be able to buy things, unless govt steps in and gives us life support.

That's horrible news!
