HOW to talk with the faithful; Street Epistemology.
Arguing with the faithful is pointless. They will stop thinking or listening as soon as you dispute their beliefs. But by asking questions, you can (possibly) get them to think, and thinking is the enemy of belief.
I'm not an expert on this technique, but I intend to be.

I've watched a ton of his videos. I met Anthony in Nashville at NaNoCon. My wife and I participated in his workshop. He's a really cool guy. I would love to be able to do interviews as well as he does, but I would be good at it. I tried a similar approach with some young Mormons that came calling one day, and while we had a good conversation, I just don't think of the proper questions as well as he does.

You may know this but I'll tell you in case you don't. Asking questions to get people to figure things out for themselves is known as The Socratic Method. It's known as that because that's how Socrates is shown by Plato to be interacting with all the lesser minds around him.

Street Epistemology is I think the best approach. Thank you for this post!

I'm practicing this approach in my interactions right now. It takes a lot of will power to maintain coolness and a poker face.
