What are your favourite comic/graphic novels?
And when I ask this I'm not including old skool comics like Peanuts (and I am a Peanuts fanatic, just to be clear).
No, I'm talking within the last 30 or so years.
For me? Watchmen (duh). Sandman (it's Neil Gaiman, so duh); Constantine; Preacher.
What about you?
Watchmen
Sin City (all 7)
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Batman: The Long Halloween
Batman: Dark Victory
Batman: Hush
Batman: The Killing Joke
Punisher: Welcome Back, Frank
Ronin
Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage
If you had not name checked The Killing Joke? - well, there would have been trouble:
This is going to sound hipster af but Persepolis was great and quite enlightening about the conditions of life in Iran.
Allie Brosh - Hyperbole and a Half is a perfect mix of hilarious and poignant. My girl & I had a wee custody battle over it when it arrived! Both of us trying to read it at the same time.
Oh, Persepolis is great. And significant.
If you've never read an Uncle Scrooge McDuck adventure by Don Rosa, you are doing yourself a disservice.
ZAP! Comics.
Checkered Demon comics.
Generally 'underground comics' of that era.
I always loved TinTin comic books. They're so detailed and imaginative. I know that's too old
As usual, nothing is out of bounds for me - if we go back, then Asterix is cool also.
