This is a marketing ploy, I'm sure. But it irked me to no end. I went to do laundry yesterday (my landlord is still working on resolving the W/D issue-now he's got to call his plumber!). I had been in a rush when I departed so had forgone my usual thermos of hot tea. So I went to a nearby grocery to purchase a bottle of water. The selection at the checkout-Dasani-seemed absurdly high. So I decided to venture into the wilds of the grocery. (It's non-union, so not one I normally patronize.) Well, just as I had suspected, I found selections of bottled water, tea, juice drinks, and even "smart' drinks for much cheaper than the Dasani. I ended up purchasing a honking big bottle-at least twice the size of Dasani-of local spring water for about 1$.

It gets even worse when the market only offers one choice.
