What does someone do when they have been single for 12 years ? I would know how to even go about getting back into the dating world but I'm older ,wiser and more aware today ,I am a work in progress ,but how long do I have to go to become a suitable partner for someone? These are questions I'm asking myself at 40

25 years this month since I separated from my ex wife, also mother of my children. Mostly single since then. All I can say is things are different when you are older. It maybe dating jim, but not as we knew it.

Life is a cycle, determine where in that cycle you are.. It appears that lasting r/s’s have shared goals … what happens after those goals have been achieved can get tricky. Someone who compliments you, allowing both to pursue shared goals appears important.

I’ve read it described that to become one with another - you must give up half of yourself. That terrifies, then depresses me. Which half? Is there both a physical and emotional attraction? Will there be assumed responsibility beyond your comfort, desire or ability?

What have, or are you willing to lose..? My marriage cost the family’s century farm… It also created my daughters.. I was 38 with the youngest, so you’re not too old for kids. So, so much.. I can’t say it gets easier ..as time appears to reduce options and opportunities. Seems you can f-up following your emotions, or over-thinking it … find that happy medium, that person to which you’re their complement ~

If you don't have a problem with being single then you have nothing that you need to do but if you want to jump back in gradually might I suggest online dating? You're going to have to sift through loads and loads of creeps and jerks but it's a good way to get to know at least a little bit about a person before you meet up with them. Definitely beats trying to meet people in bars.

Just find some friends with benefits. What more do you need?

Just go be with people. Humans have a way of doing more with that.
