I find it hare to believe in a lot of the religions because they don't practice what they preach mostly reformed christianity.
There's also a lot of logical fallacies as well, and in the end, religion itself just isn't necessary for living.
What is reformed Christianity, anyone out there ?
I think it's just referring to the fact that Christianity had a retcon with the new testament, is all. A lot of Christian's don't know that, though.
all religions are the product of man kind nothing else. The idea of a "God" came in the very early civilized societies searching for answers to the occurrence of natural phenomenas, relating that to a power that controls everything because they simply had no answer to those phenomenas at the time. Having said that, what people practice and what religion are two different things. Frankly, most people practice for desire of reward, or fear of punishment, as their religious leaders typically relate that to them. So there is an inherent fault in this thinking process, fo
r that if we were to believe in God, we are not supposed to believe in him hoping for better things in life as a return for our obedience, nor we are supposed to believe in him fearing punishment if we did not. this is quid pro quo type of religion which I personally find disgusting. All in all, religions are the product of man kind. The idea of a "God" sitting somewhere watching us is ridiculous. We are supposed, as human beings with brains in our heads, to do the right thing without the fear of being watched. what you see from the practices of religions is complete corruption. Religious leaders are nothing short of liars and con artists making millions and millions from gullible people using these two main things that have been around forever; hope for rewards from God and fear of his punishment
Do you obey civil laws, and if you do, why? and if you don't , what would be the consequences ?
@Laurastevens yes. but I am not sure what obeying Civil law has to do with what we are talking about. if you are talking about obeying God, then you have to believe in him first before you can obey him.I do not believe in this idea of God. I practice religion by being a good human being, being humble, loving, caring of others, ...etc. this is my religion and I practice it. Even if there is God, what does he want from me more than that?. now there is also a difference between believing in God and what people believe or practice. the common religious practice is simply a corrupt form of greed, power and money and has nothing to do with God, and that is across all forms of religions and not exclusive to one or two religions. If you look at those who make a living through religion, you can see that most of them were really not bright people in school, and seem to have chosen this path because they are not skilled or highly educated, that is in addition to temptation of money and power of course. Personally I do not believe in any human being who makes his living from religion. Religion does not need people who dedicate themselves to it, it needs people who practice being good human being and that is not a full time job at a Church or a Mosque. Anyone can do that by being anywhere any time with his actions and deeds
Jesus was a very tolerant man. He would tolerate almost anything. There was one thing he would not tolerate and he practically built his whole practice on one subject which he talked about more than anything else.
That is hypocrisy. Jesus could never tolerate a hypocrite.
Your true religion is your life, it's how you live. That's what you believe.
If you live a life of hate, then your religion is hate.
If you live a life of love, then your religion is love.
Take your pick but don't be a hypocrite about it.
religion is a cancer in this planet and needs to be wiped out, it created unnecessary division in the human race, everyone thinks they have the right religion so forth and so on, it needs to be wiped from the face of the earth!!
every human soul on this planet practice religion of some sort. to wipe out religion would mean no more homo sapiens on this planet , you are right the problem is the human heart it is continually evil.
Hi there I'm Derrick from Scotland. How are you? I think you look lovely. I was wondering which state you are from. I have only recently returned from Arizona last week and plan to visit again next year perhaps in march
They don’t practice what they preach, and it contradicts itself. I can’t take no religion serious. I mean that book actually says if you ask for something, you will get it, yet I’ve yet to see any amputee regenerate an arm or leg. And Jesus has yet to appear to me, despite him saying he would then turned around and said something like ,” For the ones who believe in faith will be the happiest.” He hasn’t even come back in the rapture like he promised so many of his believers.
Exactly
Seldom is there a desire to practice intellectual integrity by adhering to constant principles. It’s actually much more convenient to espouse something intangible and abstract while changing it to suit your purpose at any given time. It’s so easy and convenient that you can do it without even thinking about it.
You hit the head right on the nail. If you are gonna make a big deal about your religion, you better follow it's tenets, right? Xstianity is hard because it is books have so many contradictions due to totally different types of people writing things at different times, but if you are gonna pick your dogma, you should probably live by it or move on.
"Does the Bible contain errors, contradictions, or discrepancies?"
If we read the Bible at face value, without a preconceived bias for finding errors, we will find it to be a coherent, consistent, and relatively easy-to-understand book. Yes, there are difficult passages. Yes, there are verses that appear to contradict each other. We must remember that the Bible was written by approximately 40 different authors over a period of around 1500 years. Each writer wrote with a different style, from a different perspective, to a different audience, for a different purpose. We should expect some minor differences. However, a difference is not a contradiction. It is only an error if there is absolutely no conceivable way the verses or passages can be reconciled. Even if an answer is not available right now, that does not mean an answer does not exist. Many have found a supposed error in the Bible in relation to history or geography only to find out that the Bible is correct once further archaeological evidence is discovered.
