Prosopagnosia is a neurological disorder characterized by the inability to recognize faces. Prosopagnosia is also known as face blindness or facial agnosia.
I think I had this for cars- when I was a cop in the ‘70’s I couldn’t recognize a Chevy from a ford ! Much to the consternation of my mechanic dad !

It does! I often don’t recognize people out of our normal context. I may remember that I didn’t recognize them before too!
There's a great book with a section about Prosopagnosia - a case study. Oliver Sacks' The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat. Highly recommended for anyone interested in clinical psychology and neurology. Also, An Anthropologist On Mars is another great, touching book by Sacks
