Although it's clearly something of an issue or we wouldn't be here, I'm wondering how many people find religion or lack thereof a frequent topic of conversation or discussion in their every-day-life? I can't remember the last time it came up for me. Perhaps it's because religion just isn't an issue with the people I know. Perhaps it's because people think I'm old and weird (both of which are true). How many of you find yourself defending yourself and your beliefs on a regular basis?

I tend to bring it up more then my friends, im fascinated by many aspects of religion. So mayby I ask for the abuse I get .uh no. But i am vary out spoken on the subject and it does make some people mad even though I'm respectful of their beliefs....to bad for them.

Pretty rare anyone brings up religion with me.
Certainly no one who knows me.

My friends that know me don't hesitate to exspess themselves without a second thought because I do not claim to be sure, and I listen to what they have to say. It does depend on the person though. Most moderate Christians are at least accepting of my right to my beliefs. But I have heard "your going to hell " more then once usually with a laugh. No offense takin

Never from my part, other party gets shut down.

In my social life, I find that some believers tend to make gushing comments several times in the course of a conversation referencing their strong belief in their supernatural creator, such as thanking God for this and that, and what have you. This tips me off that I don't want to debate religion with them. (Yes there are people who thank "god" for things and aren't believers, I don't mean that.) These friends know I'm a staunch atheist and a humanist celebrant - but simply feel the need to assert their beliefs maybe a little stronger being in the presence of a non-believer, haha! I don't try to reason with them, or defend myself. My actions and manner with them will have to speak for me. Nobody in my present social life thinks ill of me for not believing - we co-exist harmoniously.

About once a month the topic will come up but don't feel the need to defend myself !
