I had a date today. I have a clear impression that he wants nothing to do with me and finds me odd. I'm relieved though. We have nothing in common. I live a healthy life. He is new in town and asked me if I could recommend a good burger place. When I told him that I had no idea and that I don't eat meat, he got a look on his face that I was a dangerous freak. On his profile on the dating site, he wrote that he goes to a gym as much as possible and rides a bicycle for exercise. Well, I've met the guy and those things can not be true. He wrote that (at 60-yrs. of age) he is blond, but he has a hard-to-believe-is-natural off-color dark brown hair in his pictures. Before our date today, I had asked him if he dyes his hair. He replied,"no, it's just getting darked as I get older". He smelled of something I became familiar with while caring for people with metal legs. . There's a smell to the rubber liners. Not something that I would have held against him, but I like honesty. He asked me if I have friends in town then asked me if my closest neighbors think that I am odd. I told him that I am odd to them...because I don't believe in god. I said that it sounds like the date has come to an end and also asked him if he just can't wait to take me home..He replied," yep ". I did, however, have a great day today...He helped me with a project that required a bigger/better saw than my own and he did the sawing! YAY, MY TABLE IS FIXED !

I couldn't help giggling that he thought you were a "dangerous freak" for not eating meat. Never heard of vegetarians being referred to as dangerous.

I've had plenty of bad dates but I tend to look at them as learning experiences. Also they usually make for a good/funny story later. I'm just happy to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people!

The fact of being vegetarian is a winner! I don’t eat dairy either and people think I am odd for that reason. How odd is it to rip apart some tortured animal’s body and eat it?

and what is 'dairy' anyways? The milk of another type of animal. If we were still babies, it should be the milk of our own kind - human milk. But we are adults and there are plenty other ways to get the calcium and protein that our bodies need. I'm 64. My doctor told me that I am the healthiest patient that he has ever seen. I'm a honey eater and I eat fruit all day. Still, it's not that odd to rip apart the flesh of animals and eat it...we do have the teeth for it. That's for the survival of humans. We are equipped to eat everything that is not toxic for us. Raw is best. Charring red meat is toxic for us. It changes the molecular structure. Vegetarian is best for me.

Sometimes, when we meet new people, the lesson we receive is what to avoid in the future ! <grin>

Odd is good. People have told me I'm strange, and weird my whole life, only now I've come to take it as a compliment. My husband and I are complete opposites, he was a jock(still thinks he is one) I was a weird artsy kid that played guitar and always had paint stains on my clothes. He was in the military and needs someone to take orders from and I have always been defiant with an appitude for doing my own thing (I could never made it in the military). He believes in god and I don't. But I think the fact we are opposites keeps us constantly learning something new from each other and creates balance. We can compensate for each others weaknesses. I agree with you about honesty. I've been accused of being too honest, like honesty is a bad thing. In a relationship if you can't trust who your with you shouldn't be together. Trust is a hard thing to earn, and when it is broken it is ten times as hard to gain back...as bad as your date sounded, at least you got your table fixed out of it! Thats a win! Who knows maybe he likes odd. My dad is in his 60s and dyes his mustache cause his hair is dark blonde still but his mustache grows out grey (and he gets hilariously embarassed about it) shockingly he hasn't a bald spot yet, and no one believes his hair is his own but it is, he hasnt changed it in 20 years! So its possible he wasn't lying about the hair, even if unlikely.

ODD IS GOOD
So why can't there be an Agnostic belt as there is a bible belt? We would all fit in and perhaps even all get along, yes?
