I used to keep tadpoles when my daughter was young. We fed them on Aquarian flake goldfish food which they seemed to like. Trouble is that when they turn into tiny frogs it is almost impossible to feed them as they need tiny live food. Some would eat greenfly but they ended up being released in the dampest part of the garden. Anyone know what tiny wild frogs eat since I don't think they can climb elderberry trees?

I get itinerant visitors to my pond but they don't lay frogspawn in it.

Warning: sad story ahead:

Tadpoles were a summer ritual for me when I was a kid. And then, years later, I lived in a place that had a rather nice walk through garden. And there was a tiny pond with tadpoles in it. I got a jar and scooped up some tadpoles. A couple of my neighbors shared my interest, and would stop by to look at them.

And then, a couple of them died. I felt guilty about that, so I put them back into that pond. There! I did the right thing.

The next day, the building's owners had that pond filled in. The right thing wasn't the right thing at all.

Oh no! That IS sad! Poor things...?

I've a good FB friend who's bailing out from California to the Texas Hill country area,as soon as her husband can retire, she's got quite the garden, hoping to find similar growing conditions when they move.

Not sure if our climate is the same as California, but we do get plenty of sun!?

What fun watching them grow legs

I'm excited for that part to get here as well! Looking forward to sharing!
