I am a hard rock and metal nut. Most metalheads my age are incredibly elitist about whichever sub-genre they're into. Back in the 80's it wasn't like that. People listened to what made them happy, and the metal community was a more cohesive group. Now it would seem that instead of bringing us together, the internet and social media has more or less, catered to trolls, and taken out much of the fun that made our community so great. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it mostly an online thing? When I go to concerts and festivals the vibe is mostly positive, and familial. Have fans of other genres had similar experiences? (Asking for a freind)........

Yup noticed it about ten years ago in the clubs . Metal was metal back in the 80's to many sub genres now and to many elitists in each . A few concerts were overrun by non metal heads who made the whole feel of the concert limp .
