Anyone done radio before? Disc Jockey? Have a book on it and a play list but any tips on presenting? First time alone on Sunday...starting to get nervous!
If you've ever done any stage acting, then you'll already be practised in speaking more slowly than in a face to face chat. You will also have realised that under-acting is far more effective than over-acting. (except where you wish to poke fun at something.)
Otherwise, be natural, and let your normal character/personality take charge. Good luck.

Haven't been on stage since I was a painfully shy teen! Never had any acting tuition. Perhaps that's next!
@girlwithsmiles Let us know how it went tomorrow evening.
@Petter hiya, just checking in as finished show. There were moments when I didn't get the faders up in time or song on quick enough. But music got played, I did some talky bits and even did local bands and a bit on stereotypes relating to names from New Scientist (one of my fave magazines.) I think it's just practice to be more polished, hopefully! Forgot to take my joke to start with! One of my friends listened and said some nice things, another tuned in just in time to hear their song being played Thanks for caring.
@girlwithsmiles Thank YOU for letting me know. New Scientist and Private Eye are amongst my favourite magazines. Are you on again next Sunday?
@Petter hopefully, I'll contact them tomorrow.
I did the DJ thing on a classical station in NY. Way too much fun !
Enunciate your words. Be upbeat. Let your personality shine - don't force things. Know your material.
Avoid dead air !

                                        Cool, ta.
I was a dj for my college radio station--so not a professional, mind you, but try to relax and have fun as best as you can...and don't worry about making mistakes, i.e., stopping the wrong song--the one that's live versus the one just played--forgetting to turn off your mic, etc., everyone does these and it helps to just laugh it off. Also, try playing something out of your comfort zone every now and then just to mix things up. Bottom line though--relax and enjoy the music!

@TeacherMissEmm "What song is it you want to hear?"
Lols, I have a couple for emergencies!
@girlwithsmiles If yr plaing Indie, try Thurston Moore's "Exalted"
I've been interviewed on radio once... My friend listened and said I was OK. I imagined I was talking to one person only.... Which in a way is what's happening. Individuals are listening to you.
Good luck. You'll be great!

I have moonlighted as a mobile DJ in the past. It was more for events (corporate parties, and mostly weddings). For weddings, I often had input from the start on what they wanted, type of music, specific requests. I didn't have to talk much. Of course, there were some emcee duties, but they aren't difficult. It's mostly about the music and customer service. Give the people what they want.
