Why not just make atheism a religion? Why do you need a God to have a religion? Just use a humanist doctrine.

Why is it on us to "prove" that we're not all the things they claim we are (Satanists, arrogant, angry, rebellious, licentious, etc)? That's just gaslighting on their part. And what is more likely to be true -- that they think we're those things for good reason or because they demonize us because we represent an existential threat to their ideology (especially those of us who are deconverts)?

The malfunction that theists have with atheism isn't that we aren't nice and respectful enough. It's that we give the lie to their failed theory of knowledge (religious faith). They durst not acknowledge that we have chosen our path because it's a considered opinion, even a misguided one. Our reasons MUST be nefarious.

In my experience, at least with respect to fundamentalists, you can't be kind, respectful, gentle and walk on eggshells enough to not offend these persecution whores. They are intellectually dishonest and emotionally manipulative, and absolutely refuse to afford the respect and human dignity to us that they demand we provide them. They feel entitled to unearned deference and respect in the marketplace of ideas, and always have, and always will.

In addition, particularly in the past couple of years, they have completely lost any deference or respect I might have had for their good intentions and morality, due to their utterly craven enabling of people like Donald Trump and Roy Moore.
