Perhaps this is just me, but upon people who discover that I am Agnostic-Atheist, they ask me about how my parents feel about it
...but why, though?
What do they have on my decision to follow a different path?
I understand that parents can be our influences. However, I'm a grown ass woman. My parents have no say in who I choose to believe or not to believe in. So what if they get their knickers in a twist because I left Christianity to embrace Atheism. It's my business.
It's quite cantankerous if you ask me. If someone, who doesn't even know me well, asks whether my parents granted me permission to venture into another belief system, I would question why they thought they had the authority to check up on me. I mean, what the hell!
Anyway, there are stranger things out there. Anyway, that is my little wtf moment.

I have a different interpretation of their inquiry. Maybe they are curious if your being atheist caused a separation or rift between you. My folks already died when I gave up on religion, but it would have been a strain on our relationship, since they were devout Catholics.

Anyone that ever asked me what my parents thought about it would hear the following, "why the living fuck does it matter what my parents think? I could give two shits about how "they feel" about my grown-ass spirtual (or lack thereof) beliefs."
Then I'd follow that up with a question "What kind of stupid ass question was that anyway? Do you often ask partly, or fully stupid, question?"

Yup, that's one of the many questions I get asked when being questioned about me being non-religious. I think it's because most believers are indoctrinated into the religion of their parents.
