Spent the entire week doing hardly a thing...I am a college professor on summer break (although I am teaching 2 on the ground courses and one online course towards the end of June). I'm feeling a combination of guilt and pleasure. I know I should be doing something more productive, but it's nice sleeping in late, wearing sweats/pjs, decided when or if to take a shower (TMI maybe?). I should also mention that I can't afford a "real" vacation at this point, so I guess I could consider this as such. Anyone else get these days or weeks as well?

I felt the way you do the first week of the first summer I went from adjunct to full-time and didn't teach for three months. Then I did everything I didn't have time to do while teaching--lunch with friends, start/tend/sow my fruits and vegetables in the yard, can fruits and vegetables, clean out the garage, paint a couple of rooms, see a movie, make dinner for friends, read a book for me! Then the same thing happened when I retired. The routine of working/not working sets in and you'll be happy and relaxed. BTW In 18 years of teaching, not one day was work. Except the admin meetings and obligatory school and community volunteering (is it volunteering if it's part of your contract?) LOL. Good luck and enjoy!

Today was a sunny and fairly warm day for upstate NY: upper 80's. I decided to go to a nearby lake with my parents (both in their 80's) and just sat under a tree for shade and talked, crocheted...it felt great. I am one of those people who has to have an agenda in order to keep from going crazy. I guess housework will get done whenever...,tomorrow's another day!

I'm a college art professor out on summer break, too. I'm building a set of saw horses today🙂 I'll go eat BBQ in a few minutes and come back to the studio and put a second coat of paint on the 2x4s and then go home and watch a movie...or something. Might even sleep till 9:00 a.m. I'm living dangerous!!! Hahahahah

You're on "staycation"! 😉

I'm financially independent (retired - but that makes me sound too old). I volunteer in the community a few days a week but the rest of the time I indulge myself.

Where is the rule you need to be productive? Be doing what you want to be doing. I don't believe anyone is hiding in the bushes checking on your productivity. But then again, maybe they are. ?
