I think the overwhelming evidence shows all cultures have not only used religion but needed it to bond with commonality. I believe atheism is a minority brought on mainly in free societies by those with the time to think it out and make sentient observations.

I think belief in the supernatural is the natural response to unexplainable phenomena; atheism is the natural response to scientific research and logical thought.
