God is a dad. A dad who predestined everything and created hell to torture his creation forever and ever while he watches. Yes, that's exactly what dads do.

Well thank you your assholiness, you just alienated a whole cadre of hard line left footers, anything that reduces the numbers of you corrupt multinational is okay by me.

"I'm god's representative on earth, so if I say Jesus was wrong, he was wrong, if I say the bible is a lie, it's a lie, you argue with me I'll excommunicate your ass, and then see who goes to Hell!"

What did you want him to say?

"Sorry, Emanuele... Your dad is and will be burning and agonizing in Hell forever and ever for not believing in The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."

or,

"No, Emanuele. God doesn't exist and your father is rotting in the ground, like we all will...unless you get cremated, drown, get eaten by rabid animals, or something..."

The Pope showed compassion and comforted a boy mourning the death of his father. What more do you want?

good thing the pope isn't baptist...he'da said he went to hell.

Compassion? Don't you know a photo opportunity when you see one? No compassion for the thousands of little boys raped by catholic priests - because no cameras to record that crap. Fucking hypocrite of the highest order.

@GoldenDoll
I'm not convinced this pope is an absolute scumbag, even if he is in denial about the priests accused of molesting kids. Good photo opportunity, sure, but he probably would have told him the same in private.

@Beefcake This is the way the catholic church has always operated. This little boy was sitting on the front row for a reason. Some stooge had obviously just told him his father was in hell a few moments before the video. The pope caused his distress, then 'cured' it. Classic manipulation. No doubt the same scenario occurs just before a priest rapes a little boy just like this. And I'm shocked that people are still gullible enough to believe it. Well done catholics! Any man who heads up the corrupt property empire which is the catholic church does not deserve my respect, no matter how 'nice' he appears to be.

@GoldenDoll
You're assuming the kid had been deliberately distressed beforehand to give the Pope's words more emotional appeal, when they may have just picked out a few kids going through tough times to speak to the Pope, like talk shows typically do. Still looks good for the cameras, but not nearly as malicious as you'd make it seem.

Frankly, the assumptions you're making and the animosity in your posts remind me of batshit fundamentalist zealots ranting and raving about how heathens and infidels are all going to burn in hell for not believing in their religion, in spite of how "nice" those people may be.

@Beefcake Well as I've never been religious I wouldn't know about that. But i do spend a lot of time in Italy, so I do know about that. And I'm not ranting & raving. Just expressing a reality which is obviously not yours. Good luck with being indoctrinated.

@GoldenDoll
Thanks, crazy lady.

He was kind and loving to the little boy. That matters, in my humble opinion.

Your opinion is indeed humble. And ignorant. Biggest hypocrite on earth. Pity he doesn't show the same compassion to all the little boys raped by catholic priests. The difference? A camera rolling.

@LetzGetReal
If he was not a f*cking hypocrite he would have stood by what his church actually teaches and told the truth.

Mark 3:28-30: "Truly I tell you, all sins and blasphemes will be forgiven for the sons of men. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but is guilty of an eternal sin."

I like all atheists am guilty of this, old spooky don't exist y'all.

@GoldenDoll
You are not telling me anything new about Catholicism. But, I am saying (again) that I think he said what was best for the little boy. Little boys in emotional pain don't need a reality check. They need comfort. And I don't need you calling me ignorant. Check yourself or don't comment on my posts.
