World wide, over all and over time,if you look at recorded history, the amount of killing in wars and wars themselves have gradually reduced over time. However, it is doubtful that all wars will end in our lifetimes.
I'd like to think that as a species we are becoming less violent, but I think it has more to do with a general wider availability of resources. There will always be someone who wants to hoard more resources (or wealth) than they need or could possibly use in their lifetimes, so we will probably always have wars.
