The New York Times revealed on Saturday that a letter had been sent from Donald Trump’s legal team to Special Counsel Robert Mueller. The gist of this letter was a juicy raspberry to the rule of law, declaring that Donald Trump doesn’t have to talk, doesn’t have to answer a subpoena, and can’t be penalized by anyone, for anything. The standard implied would make any executive immune to prosecution and delegitimize any possible action against Trump. But that wasn’t the only step Trump took this week toward ending democracy.
