Perhaps the sad news that such a high-profile figure as Kate Spade has apprently taken her own life will, if little else, serve to highlight the pervasiveness of mental health issues and the incidence of suicide.

There is a direct correlation between creativeness and mental health issues. My friend was an artist. He's gone off the deep end. I haven't seen him for years. I know exactly where he lives, but I'm worried to approach because I don't want to set him off.

One of the answers is equal money and support for modern psychiatric hospitals. No chance of that while Cheeto is squatting in the WH.

I'd like to know why. It reminds me of another fashion designer, Alexander McQueen who also took his own life. Money troubles seemed to be the catalyst.

WOW............................that's sad.

Although we know she won't be the only American today who chooses to end their own life... I wonder what the answers are.

So sad, she has a 13 year old daughter too.

More often than not, it is the impossibility of swimming upstream against the fact that 8 men own more wealth than 45% of the US population.

Same applies to opioid addiction. There is no middle class to speak of anymore and no chance of upward mobility. People are exhausted from working 2-3 jobs and getting further behind.

Where are the pitchforks? Have we become sheep for the slaughter? The answers lie in the mess we have put ourselves in.

@hemingwaykitten. That is so very true. Why keep fighting to get ahead when the odds are stacked against you. This world we find ourselves in is needlessly hard on so many of us.

Myself and every person I know over 50 looking for a living wage job. We have excellent work histories, we're well educated, and broke. Very very broke.

Sorry, make that 50% of the WORLD'S WEALTH.

So, gave it to you RIGHT THERE, and it's worse than I thought. Jerk.
