That depends on your definition I think. But accepting things without proof makes no sense. I know fire burns from proof, not faith.
Faith and reason are compatible but reason will never give one a proof of god’s existence. Kant argued persuasively why.
@atheist
Yes! But the atheist is making an affirmative claim that there is no god. So the wise position is to doubt and to state their argument. Like an alt-Aquinas an atheist can imply from evidence and deduce the absence of the divine with probability but not certainty.
@Gripster31 wrong about atheists making an affirmative claim. Some may, but it's not the default.
Not at all. Although I respect anyone's decision to do so if it has taken them out of detrimental situations but quite honestly it's that same addictive personality that makes them dependant upon a false deity to pull them from either drugs or a toxic relationship. But no,belief in any god is irrational.
No, but a belief in a god by most people was thrust upon them from birth so they never had a chance to think objectively or decide for themselves. They never came to this conclusion .
The psychiatric/psychological community surely says it is.
What is so rational about believing a thought or a word? I've never really seen what the big deal was with that
There is no big deal, science even supports that fact and encourages it, and as far as religion being what Michel says it is , many religions are in fact very good like Buddhism and even Christianity , while responsible for bad things, is also responsible for furthering science medicine and education.
