QUESTION Johnson Amendment Still in Danger - TheHumanist.com

All of this is to say that while we should be thankful that tax reform didn’t result in repeal of the Johnson Amendment, we must keep our eyes on the other pieces of legislation which would do massive damage to the amendment and the separation between church and state.

Glad to hear the repeal of the amendment was taken out of the tax bill. However, Like @zblaze said, they will likely try to repeal it soon, so they can get a lot more money for the 2018 midterms.

For those who don't know, it is my understanding that, the Johnson Amendment forbids nonprofit religious groups from making political donations while keeping their tax exempt status.
