Quite often, if not always, theists make statements like "this/that disaster happened because we no longer have god in our schools/marriages/lives/etc, and I agree with them but not for the same reasons. Aren't they (theists) just revealing that they don't really believe that their god is omnipresent, omniscient, or whatever and should truly just shut up before saying such things? Even though it goes against their proselytizing practices?
That is what idiots like Roy Moore and Mike Pence would say. Living in their own reality. Don't impose it on we freethinkers.
Does a good loving parent walk in the child's room and destroy its toys just because well they better figure it out? Further more, would an adult destroy some other kids toys because their own children displeased them?
If a God resorts to childish temper tantrums what good it she? A reasonable God would simply let us know what is on her mind by simply telling us.
Instead we are told by unthinking people that their God is well....unthinking.
Seth Andrews: "The Bible: otherwise known as the goat-herders guide to the universe"
Kinda being mean to all those hard working goat herders isn't it??
The probably think he's not even omnipotent either. They blame Satan on natural disasters.
My response.... "Shit happens. Deal with it."
Yes they claim God is all seeing all powerful and has the ability to perform miracles meaning he/she can break the laws of physics and pretty much do anything. Their God must be some kind of bastard as he allows so many people to die from natural weather events and things like mass starvation in some countries. Does this great God sit up in his heavenly lounge room and watch the Earth and all this suffering while sipping a heavenly cup of tea and cookies? I find these beliefs just mind boggling. Enough of a rant. Happy New Year too
They're using god's "presence" in a funny way. They want him to be felt and to be overtly mentioned. What they are admitting implicitly is the evangelical weakness that the only way to know Jesus is to be told about him. Which is weird because they also believe that the Holy Spirit also has a witness to Jesus and to conviction of sin in everybody. And yet people still have to be "converted" and attend church. Their language is puzzling to think about.
It's all about playing the victim, feeling persecuted. These claims that God isn't allowed in school, for instance, are stupid. Students are allowed to pray, but teachers are not allowed to foist their own beliefs upon their students. But that secular approach is the perfect excuse for so many Christians in particular to insist that they are being discriminated against. They never seem to realize that they're being protected, equally, from Muslims preaching to minors, or from Hindus, or from atheists, etc. But they're not happy unless they feel oppressed.
