Wassup? Is anyone into what i call True metal music? Like fivefingerdeathpunch, lamb of god, slipknot or any rock/metal music you can understand and believe in?!
Everybody has their own tastes. Mine lean toward the extreme or the dark. I love some Dark Funeral or Dissection, Cannibal Corpse, Gorerotted, Brujeria, Slayer and Destroyer 666, and even My Dying Bride and Draconian when I'm feeling Gothic. Metal is just about my cure-all to whatever might ail me.
I live eat and sleep metal brother. I work for Dash Radio in Hollywood it's an app like Pandora but with real DJ's on the Los Anarchy channel. I love all kinds of metal but really love Bay Area thrash as I grew up in that scene bands like Exodus, Testament, Death Angel and this other little called Metallica.
Ad for my show every Saturday at 5:00 pm West coast time.
I think fans of bands like Corrosion of Conformity, Anal Cunt, Cannibal Corpse, Rotting Christ and Carcass might disagree with your assessment of the bands you mentioned as being true metal.
I was being nice I'm just happy people still listen to heavy music!!
Extreme metal definitely has a cult following here in the US market, but it has far more fans than the lazy suits at the major record companies would like. Every person who doesn't eat up the latest crap album from their latest rehash of some boy band, tweenie singer or watered down metal act from the 1980's or 1990's is money out of their pocket. And we all know that these useless slugs would rather sit on their asses than actually do their jobs.
I went and saw Kamelot and Dragon Force here in Denver a couple of years ago. They sold out a 1,600 seat venue, despite having received absolutely no airplay, support or advertising from the local corporately owned faux "rock" station. The very next week I Prevail and Amaranthe struggled to fill a 550 seat hall, even after the Denver Clear Channel owned "rock" station spent over three months pushing the event on an hourly basis.
Seeing Clear Channel fail gives me a nice, warm fuzzy feeling inside.
Yes, all the bands you mentioned plus others such as Suicidal Tendencies, Hatebreed, Dropkick Murphys, Maiden, Saxon, Judas Priest etc. Not a great fan of increasing tendency to divide the music into smaller subsets with seemingly growing hostility amongst them
Dude you nailed it I work in Metal Radio. I can't tell the difference in some of the different subsets. Like what is the difference between death metal and brutal death metal!!?
Not really True Metal but I LOVE Punk Rock, especially what we call British Street Punk, bands such as All Flags Burn, The Warriors, Citizen Keyne. I love the honest uncompromising lyrics and melodies to the point that with a DJ friend we host Punk/post-Punk nights when we get the chance. I will look up the bands you mention and have a good listen.
They are kind of aggresive and straight to your face with the truth kinda stuff with solid instruments behind bold vocals!! Ya check them out with an open kinda mind at first
