Growing up, was there a common superstition?
A few weird superstitions I’ve heard that baffled me were “don’t cross your eyes because if someone hits you on the back your eyes will stay that way”, and “step on a crack and break your mother’s back.”—is that one just for rhyme sake? What have you heard?

A bird at the window meant someone was going to die. An itchy right hand meant you were going to receive money and an itchy left lose money. Itchy foot you were going on a trip. Single blackbird was an evil omen.

I've heard those as well.
You could get high by smoking banana peels.
