When I typed : Democracy and asked Google for definition this is what I found: a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority. b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections. 2 : a political unit that has a democratic government.
It is interesting to observe that in majority (if not all) so called Democratic Countries this is not the case. There is naturally a Mirage on surface where parties in power insist they are elected but if you scratch surface I found troubling things:
I found system where it is in fact Dictatorship of Rich in Power.
Since rich are not majority this fails to meet standard of democracy.
Found system where it is Dictatorship of Two Ruling parties. Since population being forced to choose between two parties is not accurate representation of its population this also fails to meet standard for democracy.
Found system where its pretty much a club of same people who periodically change name of their parties. This is mainly corruption and clearly fails to represent population.
Where does your country fit and what do you think about your system? Are you happy where you are?
I'm a yankee, sure it's a democracy we live in, we do get to vote. but really it's a democracy/socialist/capitalist/fascist country. we do have a lot of freedoms, but really it's majority rules.
.
Democracy never envisioned a united states of america circa 2018.
We are supposed to be a Democracy. trump is doing his best to mold democracy to his liking.
I'm in the US. I'm okay and happy.
Many of your post differ from you being happy but you are okay with it and maybe happy with being okay so for sure is not of my business.
I like being alone. I meant, I'm happy in the US.
I would not be alive if I were not adopted into the US. Ergo, I am grateful and happy to reside in the US and have freedom to be left to my own devices.
