Since an afterlife occurs after death occurs, and we are unconscious, how would we know? As a result, knowing what it is or isn't like is an impossibility.

Afterlife is the main hook that religion uses to ensnare those that can't accept the fact that everyone dies. Enjoy the here and now and make the world a better place because that's what is real.

There may be one. There are plenty of NDE stories on YouTube and in books which can give you an idea of people’s experiences on the edge. That’s not proof, and it merely gives an impression because they are quite different from one another.

Dead is dead. A story of after life was hinged to religious beliefs about supernaturals and the real beyond mortality. Yet, no one comes back and tell us exactly whats in the next life. all stories are embellished and pass on as truth. The short cut is if theres no evidence about life after is Faith. Faith is the excuses when there is no evidence.

I'm still trying to figure out if this life is real.

Short answer: Yes

Slightly longer: The dynamic form that is "you" breaks down. Everything that was you still exists, but will do so in a different form. It is highly unlikely you will continue to exist with any sort of consciousness, but the things that make up you, that make up all of us, will go on. It's the most beautiful thing about existence: We are the universe, and the universe is us.
