Can I reply to comments on a sub-thread?

I can't find a way to reply to someone who has commented on my (or somebody else's) comments on my (or somebody else's) post. It sometimes must seem rude if I ignore them. Am I missing something?

Level 9

You can reply directly to them from their profile page. Can you explain more so can think about solutions? We're working on a way you can direct your message to someone (e.g., put '@username' somewhere in your text). But it's on the list for a few week from now.

That's great news. It's one of the only rough edges to this site. If someone comments on my reply, I can comment back, but it doesn't notify that person, so he/she is unaware of my response.
