How many here have tried a generic dating site? Did you profile yourself as atheist or agnostic? Did you say it was important for compatability? Was your request ignored?
I tried a generic dating site but gave it up. I profiled as atheist and thought I made it clear I was only going to consider non religious partners for a relationship. It seemed my request was ignored or overlooked.

I think part of the problem is religious people see themselves as good people because they are religious. So how could anyone turn them down? They are after all good. Right?? Lol

I used the word atheist in my headlines on generic dating sites. I STILL got theist after theist hitting up my inbox. I made it clear in the body of my profile that I do not date theists. It was frustrating and I would often get hater-grams.

Hater grams? Lol. So much for the love of believers. More evidence god is man made. Just an imaginary friend who tells you what you want to hear.

I tried a generic dating site (or two) and it seems ALL the aspects of my profile were ignored.

I have always identified myself as an atheist. It was never an issue, however I wasn't living in the "bible-belt" either.

I have tried Match.com and met my wife there. That was 15 years ago so things have changed I am sure. I think location plays a key role. If you are in NY or CA it is probably a lot easier to find like minded people. I never dated anyone that attended a religious ceremony and it was never an issue.

I always say atheist, but like @sarahroo29 says they don't pay attention. I've had people state that they read my profile and they believe we're perfect for each other. When I look at their profile it states that they are a Christian and serious about it.

The ones that I like the most is when they say they love my picture...... and I don't have one up.

I'll bet Springfield is an interesting place for an atheist to live. My sister lived there for a while. She was astounded by the prejudice displayed by xians

I actually live in a small town outside Springfield. Even-though the town I live in is conservative, I have no problems with it. Well, except for every Sunday when the Catholic church across the street's parishioners park in front of my house. At least they don't block my driveway.

My sister said they were walking down the sidewalk after church one Sunday with people they just met at the church. Some people were walking towards them and the people she had just sang hymns next to in church shouted " n****rs" get off the Damn sidewalk" . She about fell over she said.

Same for MeetMe and for OkayCupid. No one reads bios. I stated I'm an atheist and all the religious people ignored that.

Guess they think it's not important. I think it is. Anytime someone has an imaginary friend who is superior to you it causes problems.

I met my partner on Tinder and tried other dating sites. In Arkansas, religious people are the majority by far, so I wasn't all that hopeful. I had some promising prospects though, who were either agnostic or non-practicing and accepting of my non-belief. I had a few try to convert me, lol. The block feature on most sites is very handy.

Tinder has a limited profile area, so not everyone puts their religious preference, but I made sure I did. Between listing liberal & atheist in my first sentence, I kept most of the zealots away. My current beau listed the same on his and I swiped without regard to his location. We're making it work and I'm happier than I have ever been. Plus we both love snakes and are educators at the college level. It's a ridiculous match. I never thought I could get so lucky.

That's fantastic! Happy for you. 🙂

I've always tic off atheist..if it's not an option then "other" works too..so no it hasn't been an issue for me.

I did and listed myself as an agnostic....guess what no luck there is another thing I put as a deal breaker; god fanatics and 45th supporters. Guess I need to start collecting cats 🙂

Me too! I couldn't even stomach watching 45 on TV last night.

I joined filled out the profile but very quickly realised that you have to pay to contact people or reply to people that are contacting you - and I stall there
So I guess I havnt really given it much of a try

pof.com and tagged.com are 2 sites that you can be a free member and still be able to contact people and be contacted by people.

I've stated atheist and had people contact me who obviously hadn't read it. I mean somebody looking for "a good Catholic woman" contacts me, really. Never found functionally illiterate attractive personally, spelling mistakes I can handle but inability to comprehend what is put before you in the bluntest terms , no!

I think most people just look at photos for who they think are attractive.

Yeah that would be a deal breaker. Lol.

yes, i told the truth but honestly, i was finding them to be mostly scamming me. either the dating site or the actual woman or both. ill never be desperate and don't need a woman in my life. I would just like one.

I am about to that point myself. I was codependent but realized that left me open to a lot of abuse.

don't be desperate my friend you have a right hand and Pornhub. who knows whats next.

Yes. It didn't work out for me. I'm content here and like the blogging.

I always state non religious, I have been rejected because of it, but also for many other reasons. So many women want men with "good Christian values".

"good Christian values", whatever that means???
